Whitevale Medical Group: Training Future GPs

Whitevale Medical Group is an accredited training practice dedicated to providing high-quality training for future GPs. We have been a training practice for many year and currently support medical students and Foundation Year doctors (FYs).

Undergraduate Training

We are committed to medical education and currently teach 4th and 5th-year medical students from Glasgow University, led by various GPs. Medical students are highly supervised and will observe and then undertake consultations to develop their skills in history taking, examination, and procedural skills.

All undergraduate students understand the importance of patient confidentiality. You will be asked if you are willing to allow students to be present or involved in your consultation when you book your appointment or check in. If you prefer not to have students present, please inform the reception staff.

Postgraduate Training

A Foundation Year 2 (FY2) doctor is a fully qualified doctor in their second year of postgraduate training. As part of their development, they spend four months working in General Practice to gain valuable experience in community-based care. During their time with us, FY2 doctors run their own clinics and see patients independently, but they are always closely supervised by one of our experienced GP Partners. This ensures that patients receive safe, high-quality care while supporting the doctor’s learning. It is very important that junior doctors experience General Practice, and we hope that some will be inspired to become GPs in the future!
